My father was on board USS Hendry APA-118, keel laid in Portland, Ore. Guess she wasn't that fast on the oceans, but fast constructed and launched as per the war effort. My question is about tours for those in the Navy that took part in the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Although a good part of these sailors and the marines assigned to ship didn't go ashore they still were there. My father (84 years) only ever tells about the one Kamikazee that decided to go vertical after flying between the ships off Iwo, or Oki. Anyway, my Dad, and mother are still plying the earth on the coast of Oregon, and I would bet he would rather take his last breath on a tour of the places he fought if he could if that is what it came down to. Let me know of any tours available please. Thank you, Dale Glasscock
