Great weeb site.my name is Louis DeAngelo.hit Sampson.N.T.C.sometime in feb.of 45.was in (D-11 lOWER)OUR px.was burned almost to the ground before i got there..so we used to sneak across to eithr F or E- unit to shoot pool and bowl.we gave them a fictious name and Barracks nr.also lost my Graduation foto.i was wondering if anyone was on the U.S.S.Sibley .we were at Treasure Island when the suvivors of the U.S.S. Indy were there,we had a chance to talk to a few of them.they went through hell, everyone should read the book.(IN HARMS WAY) about the Indy.and the court martial procedings was a disgrace to Captain McVey who later commited suicide, and the officers and men of the Indy. we left on the U.S.S Sibley July 9th.headed for Eniwetok, refueld and went to Ulithi.hit Sammar.on 1st of sept.here is a problem we went aboard a L.S.T.loaded with Army Medical unit.we were all eating c or k ratioins.and sleeping in the tank deck. no room for all of us, i wonder who the hell was responsable for that one.few days later landed on a island i cannot remember to this day.i would love to know where that island was.in a few days we left there on a L.C.I. FOR taclobin, in leyte.we were sleeping in army tents, and burried in mud.was monsoon season.another L.C.I. TO Cavite.then i volunteerd for boat pool duty in Manila. (BP15-1)i wonder if anyone served there?i became L.C.M.Coxswain later on.then i served on Vice Admiral Kauffmans Yacht. we had the honour of having Genera Eisenhower aboard for a cruise to Corrigidor.and the bay area.anyone one out there who served in the Boat pool or on Kauffmans Yacht?later we went to Subic Bay picked up the Winged Arrow transport back to sammar then back to Treasure Island.worked in the Records office for a while.also hate to report we had a Captains Mast for being 15 minutes late back to base.no wonder us navy guys do not get along with the Marines.he could have left me on base with out any problem but you know the Marines.troop train back to Bainbridge Md. naval base for HONOURABLE DISCHARGE.which i am proud of.and back home to good ole Reading,Pa.thanks to all of you guys and girls who served. all the best to each one of you. .man what an experience.ill be 84 feb.9th.not many of us left, but we had our time. Louis DeAngelo
