 My father James (Jimmie) Walker (SM3)served on board the Hinsdale during the Okinawa and Iwo Jima landings. I can remember the war stories he told when he returned. Of course the hit taken by the Kamakazie plane stood out. He had a copy of the picture shown on the web of the damage incurred. (picture(s) lost in a home fire in 1952.)

Had intended to attend the Branson reunion but circumstances prevented it. Born and raised in Springfield, Mo.

Dad returned to civilian and resmed his vocation as a Bricklayer. He died in a VA hospital in 1962 from a heart attack.

I served in the Submarine Service for 8 yrs and appreciate the sacrifices all of you made at that time.
