My Father Charlie Coppola graduated Sampson Co 417 on Feb 8, 1945. He served on the APA Neville and other ships until his discharge in late 1946. He was a cook aboard the Neville and on one occasion the Exec made him cook chicken that was bad. Since he served in the South Pacific in the New Guinea area so it was very hot so it was not uncommon for the food to spoil. The odor of the fouled chicken was so bad they fed it to the sharks.
