I am 29 year old woman who lives in PA! Every year i get on the computer and look up Sampson. I love looking at the old pictures. i am heartbroken to thing of the building that are falling apart...it is history.
As a little girl i used to go to my grandparents house in Clifton Springs, NY and stare at my pop pops navy picture. He sometimes would talk about the navy. he wasnt in that long, then there was the year that he and my grandmom took me and my two cousins camping on seneca lake. That was the first time i saw Sampson and i fell in love.
A couple of years ago my family starting going to WWII dances and the WWII airshow and reenactment in Reading, PA! I then, with the help of my mom, started searching the internet for Sampson items. With these items i have made a scrapbook for my Pop pop. i am in the process of updating it. I was wondering if anyone out there remembers Paul W. Appleton, Jr. I think he was at the base in 1943 before being on the Bonhomme richard. thanks
kiley
