For those who are looking for information on military service, check the Veterans' Service Department in the city or state in which the individual lived after returning from service. It was a common practice for returning veterans to file a copy of their military discharge paper with the city in order to receive benefits. The discharge paper may include the following information: Date entered service, ranks, duty stations, specialized schools, date of discharge, awards, etc.

Good Luck,

Chris
