 My dad, Jerry Yantz, trained at Sampson while in the Coast Guard during WWII. He was eventually sent to the Florida coast near Miami. I so regret not taking better care to note what his company was or dates. We have now cleared out the house and so much history is lost. He passed away last year and I finally made it to the Sampson Museum last week, only to find a fire had closed it until they restore it. How disappointing! If anyone might remember this young man (back then) who farmed with my Grandfather in Brockport, NY before the war, I'd appreciate a note.
