My father Calvin Parlman also had boot camp at Sampson then, I believe, was sent to Fort Pierce, Fla for small boat school and then onto the Duplin, AKA 87. I know little other than they passed through the Panama Canal and onto the Pacific, Kobe Japan, etc. I recall him saying he reentered the States via Seattle,Washington and froze his ass off, on a train with no heat, coming across the northern part of the country during December.
