MOSCOW, March 7 - Sofia Rudieva (center), a 18-year old model from St. Petersburg, was crowned "Miss Russia 2009" during a ceremony held at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in Moscow.

Rudieva stands 1.78 m tall and will represent Russia at the Miss World 2009 contest to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, next December. In addition to that, she wins $100 thousand dollars, a set of jewelry, a trip to Sweden, among many other prizes.

The runner-ups or "Vice-miss" were Svetlana Stepankovskaya, a 1.83 m model from Krasnodar; and Ksenia Shepilova, a student from Kohma city. They won scholarships to study in the institution of their choice.

One of them is expected to represent Russia at the Miss Universe 2009 contest in The Bahamas.
