Moseley RFU needs better advertising.
We need to raise the income of the club and the way to do this is to improve the turnout at home games.
The only way to do the this is to raise the Club's profile. We should be increasing our advertising for each home match with the aim to try and land some new (and returning) supporters.
At present there is an offer to NUS card holders to come to October's home matches for free. I live in Selly Park and the only poster I have seen of this is the one my Mrs took out of my front window telling me 'it looks tatty'.
In the past 4 years I have seen only 2 posters to advertise the club. One was an annual fixture list 4 years ago in Tiverton baths and the other was last week in a dingy lobby in a shop in Moseley.
For gods sake we are in the Championship, last year we beat Leeds in the EDF Trophy Final, we are Birmingham's premier Rugby Club and I know of people living on the Alcester Road opposite Wheelers Lane (this is just up the road from the ground in case you didn't know) didn't even know where the ground was, let alone when the next home game was.
All we hear or see of the club is the brief match report on the back pages of some local paper. This is great free advertising but the final words of everyone of these write ups should say "The next home game at Billseley is .....".
We also need to be advertising the next game on lamp posts or a billboard immediately around the ground, to capture the eye of the numerous feckas driving to work every day.
Building the new stands is a great investment for the future of the club but the club really needs to raise it's game off of the pitch if it ever wants to fill this stand and succeed in this new professional era.

Gawd I sound like a right grumpy git don't I

Does "nomeansmaybe" mean you'er an armchair whinger?

Seems like you have absolutley no idea about the extent of the marketing and advertising which the club does and has been doing particularly in the pre season. If you bothered to read the excellent Moseley Matters you would see that fixture leaflets have been distributed to be displayed in nearly 1,000 shops, offices, restaurants, pubs, clubs etc. There are also many different initiatives which the club has supported and generated positive publicity (helping Aldridge Rugby Club for example). I think its Martin Cowley who has been organising this and I'm sure he now is looking forward to hearing from you with your offer to help him!

It is always gratifying to see new users of this board as I assume you are. As others have pointed out however there are many things that are happening within the Club to address the very issues you are raising. The Club relies very heavily on volunteers and and the amount of work that went into marketing the Club pre season and currently particularly by Martyn Cowley and his crew is unprecedented. The leaflet drops, fixture lists to all businesses in the area and mornings spent in Moseley and Kings Heath Farmers Markets are examples of a few.
We would welcome how we could expand on this and are grateful for offers of help, if you can spend some time to aid the Club in any way please contact me through the Club office where I would be happy to discuss.
