Using metho is a load of "balderdash" - an old fashioned remedy that was used when nothing else had been developed.
It will permanently damage the glaucose green/white powdery coating over all succulent plants and besides the "Mealies" will thrive on it - believe me - just try it. You can't be an "organic" gardener here as you have to be thoroughly ruthless and use a systemic insecticide - namely "Lebaycid" or "Confidor", available at most garden outlets in Australia.
Also don't use white oil on these types of plants for the same reason.
"The Cactus Kid".
