Subject: Sick Cactus

Five years ago l brought a cactus (unsure on type) althought it is a single stem and grows straight up. Currently it would be about 70-80cm tall.

About 1 month ago it started to get top heavy and was getting to a point it could not hold its own weight. My hoyfriend decided to try and stake it!

This morning l went and looked at it and about half way up the trunk it has split and a watery type substance is flowing out.

If anyone can tell me whats going on and how l can get me cactus back to its beautiful state l would be most appreciative.

One company l spoke to said it may be rotting. If this is the case how do l know for sure and what can l do to help it survive?
