his exact words were "I might have to come back for #8."
i heard him say it as clear as a bell --
HOWEVER, he said it in response to the gift dave gave him for #7: a white wicker handlebars basket with a yellow, a blue, and a purple flower on it along with a sign saying "#7" on the basket. upon receiving the basket, lance recalled that dave's present to him upon winning his first time was a wooden beaded bicycle seat cushion. it was at that point that lance indicated the gifts were so good, "i might have to come back for #8."

but don't bet on it -- in response to a serious question about coming back -- lance said he is retired -- his priorities are #1 -- his kids (to be a father first and foremost); #2 -- fight against cancer (be the best and loudest spokesman); #3 work with the team to see another rider replace him and get the maillot jaune; #4 work with his sponsors.

no real surprises -- no sightings of cheryl crow --
