well, the river keeps on rolling as they say. a champion is a champion in my book and i wouldn't think any less of one if he did or didn't dope. taking drugs will not make you a champion. having the drive of a champion, the work ethic of a champion, the dedication of a champion , and then after all of that being able to capitalize on the luck and opportunity generated by that ethic and dedication might give you a shot, and even then you still gotta close the deal and learn how to win. drugs won't make you a champion. cheating may win you a race or two but won't make you a champion. i would think less of a "champion" however if he didn't use everything at his disposal to push the edge and became greater than he ever thought possible. this may or may not include drugs/lying but in my view drugs/lying are such a small component in that great secret journey that champions must make i don't see how i could notice a spot of ink on the sun.

i can understand support for dick pound if your view is soley to eliminate doping. then his fire and brimstone approach may seem a long awaited solution. but on a larger scale he's just as ethically challenged as anyone he's accusing which is why i can't take him seriously. not to mention his total lack of understanding and disregard for the sport. and i wish he were merely a messenger. but he's quite a bit more than that and none of good that i can see. if he were a building inspector he'd deem the leaning tower a dangerous structure and knock it down. and that's all i see him doing -fucking shit up. there's nothing positive in his message or his actions. but i hope i'm wrong. i stil have an open, though increasingly biased, mind. we may disagree on this but we do agree on our love for the sport. long live cycling . party on.
