Subject: RE: Wondering

...why the silence is deafening. No doping innuendos on my part. Don't believe in slinging out that hash. But, I'm not naive even 'though I'm new to this sport. The potential rewards force some cyclists to risk their health, reputations and financial security for the win...heck, temptation exists and lures everyone from all walks of life, all professions, etc. No where in my previous posts, wondering, can I imagine where you came to your conclusions.
My sentiments have been echoed by all recent letter writers to www.velonews.com. My position has been that the rightful winners of any sporting event, and I have posted comments regarding the Olympics as well, have had the most wonderful moment stripped from them when they were cheated out of the podium ceremony. Can you imagine how Michael Rogers feels after getting to wear his World stripes for so short a time? When I read about athletes that have sweated, trained and sacrificed to be able to say they achieved something so uniquely beautiful that culminates in an Olympic medal or any other medal but they are awarded it AFTER someone else has been stripped of it due to cheating, I really feel for that honest athlete. They miss that moment in front of friends, family, colleagues and the world!! Can you imagine what that feeling would be like, wondering? Whether it was Tyler or not is immaterial, just fill in your own blank athlete, it will happen again and again. I, however, will continue to watch and cheer and hope for the athlete that truly wins against all odds...I'm a lover of fairplay. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if sanctions are in place that will strip any medals/wins/championships even months after the event transpires, maybe cyclists, athletes will think of what the full consequences to cheating are...but hey, it's tough in this lifetime to even think that way with the Enron's and others of this world have been conducting their affairs...what's a little cheating between friends? I don't buy it. Case closed. I hope Tyler is innocent, but I will wait it out and like I said I won't be surprised if the tests are positively conclusive. For Tyler's sake and his family, I hope not.
