Subject: If Roger Federer was a cyclist

Roger Federer beat Sampras at Wimbledon, while still a teenager but for the next few seasons, he never came close to reaching a grand slam final. I'm not sure he even reached a quarter final. Then in 2003, he reached the Wimbledon final and has now won 4 of the last 6 grand slams, often in imperious fashion.

If a cyclist suddenly showed such dramatic improvement, we'd all be speculating about which Italian doctor he was secretly attending. But of course, Federer's story is one of developing mental confidence, not chemical assistance.

I'll stop this post here in the hope it'll inspire some interesting thoughts!
