What lack of respect are you referring to? Just curious, not arguing--I just haven't seen much of anything I'd call a lack of respect given my evaluation of his results and potential.

I think he's gotta finish well, maybe top 5 in the overall in a GT to be considered a contender any future GT, and I think that's only reasonable. That said, it would seem in everything I'm reading that he is generally already thought of in most circles as a contender. I think he gets a lot more attention in the press I read than maybe other riders from other countries of equal stature/potential. Maybe that's the Lance effect, maybe it's just my perception.

I think Floyd is obviously an up-and-coming name and has tremendous potential. Until he confirms some of that potential with some big results, I think we can't expect (nor would he likely want) too much noteriety for him.
