Mike and Dan and their pranks is who it was. I can imagine there were other actors who guested the series that didn't take a fancy to some of their jokes. When John Ericson guested, neither one tried any jokes on him. He was all business and no-nonsense with his work, and a real nice guy. He said this in a Bonanza Gold interview.

Thank you, Rick. I thought it was like Mike and Dan as they're the pranksters, but I wasn't sure.

Dan Duryea complained to the producer, but Ricardo had enough and let them have it. That it was the first time in his life that he really lost his temper.

Ricardo said one of the actors imitated a black man, the other a Japanese and the other a German. Was Lorne in on the prank as well or did either Mike or Dan do two of the imitations? I ask that because when the 3rd actor visits Ricardo after lunch, the 3rd actor's words are more like Lorne would use.

Probably Lorne. He was part of the trio. Certainly not Pernell.

There's a TV Guide tribute to the 20th anniversary of Law & Order on the stands. On page 27, Angie Harmon says:

"Jerry Orbach had the most wonderful sense of humor. I didn't know he had played Lumiere in "Beauty and the Beast" until one day on set he did one of his lines in that accent and I turned around and almost jumped on him! I was like 'Oh! Lumiere!' because the Disney cartoon was one of my favorites. I just lost my mind. I made him sing the song all the time. It was a wonderful time in my life: I took away something from every one of the actors I worked with. Epatha taught me, no matter how tired I am, to always hang up my wardrobe. Sam taught me to know my scenes and not to come to the set with my script. Jerry taught me that even when I was exhausted, instead of grousing, say something funny, because everybody else was just as tired."

I immediately thought of the Ricardo Montelban story. I think that when you are a regular in a TV show, fatigue and boredom become big factors and humor is an antedote for them. But Ricardo's story shows that sometimes it can go too far and be unfair to the guest actors.
