Easy peasy. "Mr. Henry Comstock" referred to his beloved mule as "Dorothy," and told her she'd be a "key witness to a hangin'" if she didn't high tale it outta there.

Madman Peter Kane (Lee Marvin) tormented Adam and hobbled and eventually killed his mule, "Epicene."

Several burros in "El Toro Grande," too.

There was one up on the Comstock here recently called "Mary" or "Pinkie". :-) Too bad no pictures or I'd send one.
