Subject: "Whoa! Slow down there Hoss."

I have been saying "Whoa! Slow down there Hoss" all my life and it just now occurred to me that I have no idea why. I'm assuming it's a Bonanza reference but I am not sure. Does anyone know the name of an episode where this quote is actually said?

Hi Justin, it's possible you may have picked it up from Bonanaza - but equally possible you did not. I think Rick explains somewhere in his archive here that Hoss's Mother being Scandinavian, gave him the nick-name "Hoss" which was Norwegian or Swedish for "Friend", if I remember correctly, like "Amigo" in spanish...
I don't know much more than that, but it also seems to be a Country/Western/Southern alternative to "buddy" or "Pal"...
Waylon Jennings, Hank Jr and I think Toby Keith have used "Hoss" in their song lyrics.
