27 seasons of great acting in three successful television series, plus plenty of exceptional writing and directing, yet not one Emmy Award! It is a travesty, to be sure.
Landon's devotion to family-oriented material turned off many of the snobby TV critics, and I am sure that it had an effect on the Emmy Awards as well.
Was Jackie Gleason on the list too? I always felt he should have won for The Honeymooners or The Jackie Gleason Show. Some in the industry perceived him as arrogant, which may have hurt his chances.

I can't believe Michael Landon never got an Emmy. If anyone deserved one he did. Some people are against what Michael Landon stood for, so maybe that's why. He stood for good quality family entertainment.
Whether he won an Emmy or not, I'm glad he chose to go in the direction he did. What this world needs are more Michael Landon's, to bring us good family shows with morals.
Yes, he deserved an Emmy starting with Forever. But look how long it took for Susan Lucci to win. There have been successful popular actors who never won an oscar. But Mike was a big winner with the fans who ultimately pay the bills. adamseveO
