Subject: Karl Malden has left us at 97...

Karl was best remembered for his role in 'The Streets of San Francisco'. I recall him well in the show when I grew up. 97 years is a long time. May he rest in peace.

I was just watching Polyanna; I don't believe I've seen it since it aired with Walt Disney himself and his show...
But there was Karl Malden as the preacher!

And the (one of the) song(s) Polyanna was singing was "Early One Morning..." !!!

Malden was in so many TV shows and movies I lost track! He was very good in a shortlived series called "Skag." Of course, who can forget his roles in all those Elia Kazan movies? Not to mention serving as pitchman for American Express - "Don't leave home without it!"

Arguably the best thing in just about everything he was ever in. The last, (new), performance I saw was a decade ago in the first year of The West Wing, when he played the President's parish priest and knelt on the carpet with the presidential seal in the Oval office to pray for guidance in a difficult situation.

I remember Karl in the Streets of San Francisco, as I watched it every week. He and his wife were married for 70 years. My condolences to her and his family. May he rest in peace.

Yup, R.I.P. as I liked watching "The Streets of San Francisco" too http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001500/ with Darleen Carr http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0139669/ as Jennie Stone. http://www.starz.com/series/BretMaverick/BRETMAVERICK_7/PublishingImages/bret_maverick_1981_685x385.jpg

Karl also as 26 = Patton (1970) .... Gen. Omar N. Bradley and 30= The Adventures of Bullwhip Griffin (1967) .... Judge Higgins plus 39 = How the West Was Won (1962) .... Zebulon Prescott as some of my favorites. Actually I liked the HTWWW TV series better with James Arness as "Zebulon" Macahan, remember the music from this great western? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBC27Xem-EU of 4:28 minutes with 19,815 views so far.
