Thanks so much, Rick, for your prompt response. I just have to say that I'm amazed with your knowledge and insight of all aspects of the series. I view the threads regularly and always find new information (for me, at least) about an an episode I've seen many times before. I have noticed so many little details previously unseen upon viewing the new season one DVD. It is truly is a pleasure watching all these great episodes fully resotred, un-cut and un-interupted. The picture clarity is top notch. Astounding that this series holds up so well after 50 years and is superior to much of today's programming. I hope the season releases keep coming. As for the china, I hope to purchase a complete set, piecemeal of course. I always loved that china and figured, what the heck, why not get a set for myself!

Hi Frank,

Thank you. Bonanza is a big subject and it takes a lot to learn and research it, but it's well worth it. Yes, today's video and audio technology is something to behold as with DVD and HD video. Nothing like the old versions. And film preservation, too. Too bad the Cartwrights didn't think to market their own dishware; why they would have made a fortune and never realized it!

Rick, you're right, today's video and audio technology is simply amazing. So much in fact, I wonder if we might one day see totally new episodes of Bonanza with the original actors reprising their roles thanks to digital technology!! See a excellent article on this subject at: http://iipc.utu.fi/reconsidered/Bode.pdf
Who knows? This might not be that far-fetched. And we may have not seen the last of the original Cartwrigts as they saddle up for brand new adventures!!
