Is there a cast member named Jarrod my mother in law insists bonanza is where she got my husbands name from Jarrod

There was no one named Jarrod in Bonanza.

You're mother-in-law is probably confusing a some what similar western show, "The Big Valley" with Bonanza.

The Big Valley starred Barbara Stanwyck as Victoria Barkley, the mother of a daughter, three sons, and one step son living on a big ranch in Califonia.

Richard Long portrayed the eldest son, "Jarrod."

Maybe that was the character actor's name, like for Ron Hayes as Jarrod Wilson in "The Bridegroom". http://www.tvgems.net/bonanza/guests8.html
