"Invention of a Gunfighter" and "Between Heaven and Earth" are excellent dramas featuring Little Joe.

"The Flapjack Contest" is a comedy classic, with lots of broken window panes. "Woman of Fire" is superb, with one broken guitar.

"Ponderosa Birdman" is funny and heartwarming and almost makes me believe that Hoss can fly. Little Joe's reaction when he finds out what Hoss and Professor Klump are up to is about as funny as television can get.

"Dead and Gone" is generally not a favorite among fans, but I like it mainly for the Hoyt Axton music. Adam sings along too, and looks happy and relieved that it's his last hurrah as a Cartwright.

Those are all great episodes, Tim. I thought I've seen all the episodes, but I saw one the other day I'd never seen, or at least don't recall seeing. (The Trail Gang). And I don't believe I've ever seen "Dead and Gone." I hvae heard the song "Endless Road" and it's one of my favorites.

I like "Endless Road" as well, Kayleetara. Among the other songs performed by Hoyt Axton are "Smile as You Go By" and "Hard Luck Child". He also does his version of "Poor Howard's Dead and Gone", which is an old Leadbelly song. Axton's Bonanza character is Howard Mead.

I always enjoy this episode, which includes guest stars Hoyt Axton, Steve Ihnat and Susanne Cramer. Earlier today I was watching an episode of I Dream of Jeannie ("My Master, The Rainmaker"), and there was Steve Ihnat. He was a fine actor.

Hoyt Axton went on to become a major songwriter. His compositions include "Greenback Dollar" (The Kingston Trio) "The Pusher" (Steppenwolf), "Joy to the World", "Never Been to Spain" (both by Three Dog Night) and "No No Song" (Ringo Starr).
