Subject: Deja Vu

Once again, an actor has decided to leave a highly popular TV series to the anger of the fans. I decided to educate the newer generation of TV viewers that actors sometimes prefer to move on and do different things:

Dennis Weaver left Gunsmoke about a year before Pernell Roberts left Bonanza. Weaver was afraid of being permanently typecast by the Chester Goode role, so he chose to move on.

Weaver quickly moved into the short-lived series Kentucky Jones (1964-1965), followed by Gentle Ben (1967-1969). He found greater success in the seventies with McCloud (1970-1977).
