Before Michael Landon died, I had read somewhere that he said he was bench pressing 500 pounds prior to his cancer. For a little guy like Little Joe was, that's pretty incredible. You hear about wirey guys like that sometime. That's more in like with what Dan Blocker could lift, but not Landon. I think being Little Joe, he pushed himself beyond measure in just about every sense. He was totally professional actor and really towed the line. He was NO slacker.

Mike could bench press 300-350 at the max until he fell ill in 1991. He got bigger in Bonanza's later years and even more in the final years of "Little House." He and Hal Burton (whom I know) would go to the gym in LA every morning at 6 AM (before it would open) and work out for a couple hours. He wasn't that small like Richard Jaeckel was, but more in the medium size range or hunky.

Well, IIRC, Landon said he could bench press 500 pounds on Johnny Carson I believe it was. He was talking about his health pre-cancer. However, he might of been talking in generalities, thus actually the actual amount he could press could of been lower then that. I just remember that vividly since it took me by surprise that a little guy could lift so much weight. I knew a guy in high school like that. Didn't have huge muscles, but could lift an incredible amount of weight.
