Just saw the promo air on Encore Westerns. I can't say how thrilled I am to learn of this news. Rick, I had no idea you were working behind the scenes to get the "lost" episodes back on TV. A few months ago I wrote a Bonanza article for my pop culture column on Examiner.com. Looks like I will get a chance to rewrite it & spread the news about Encore Westerns.

Hi Jeremy,

Yes, I've been working on it for a long time. My first success was Hallmark Channel for me and the fans and then a 7-year dry spell that led to Encore Westerns. In the way of TV Land, I mounted a petition in 2002 to get the 260 ep set on there, as PAX-TV took the show off because of all their financial problems and infomercials until they closed the door. The set on TV Land will be pulled off on Aug 31st and I don't know if they plan to re-acquire them again.

This is a first and probably the ONLY time you will see Bonanza's "Lost Episodes" with no commercials on a premium movie channel and it was worth the wait.

Rick

Hi Rick,

Yes, I first saw the lost episodes on Hallmark Channel. I've never seen the uncut versions. If you're interested, shoot me an email. Next time I do a Bonanza article, it would be a pleasure to interview you.

I interviewed actress Lee Purcell a year ago and asked her to discuss her role in "The Weary Willies" 1970 episode.

In the meantime, I'm readying an extensive interview [12,000+ words] with Kent and Susan McCray about their years with Michael Landon. I will probably wait until July 1 to publish. Naturally, Bonanza features quite heavily. Btw, it's in my Top 5 favorite shows ever.
