Subject: Encore Westerns Question For Rick

Rick,
Do you think that Encore Westerns will give us a lost episodes Bonanza marathon before they start airing them in JULY? I mean it make perfect sense if they did just to promote the show since it would be their new home. And do you know as of yet at what time of the day the series would be airing once it return to TV in JULY? Just anxious and curious. LOL.

Ok Rick..I just hope they remain on the air for a long long long time. Im very excited too because I see that Encore Westerns always air shows in their entirety as most 1 Hour westerns are around 48 to 50 minutes long, which means they are shown uncut..Thank you for all you've done for making this possible. :)

I know what you mean when u say its been in retirement..lol. I gotta imagine the picture quality of the lost episodes shall be in tip top shape when they start airing them since they havent seen the light of day and television for almost 7 years.

Image quality has always been in top shape since the digital remastering was applied in the late 80's for cable and the dish.

Hi...I am excited about the show coming to the Encore Western channel. My question is this: how long will each episode be? I know there will not be commercial breaks, but I am trying to figure out how many episodes can be recorded to a disc. Also, do we know if they will ever show the original set of 260, or does TVLand have those rights exclusively? - Jarrod

Hi Jarrod,

260 is exclusive on cable only channels like TV Land. It's non-exclusive for locals that buy and air them. The Lost Eps (really, there's no such thing!) are cable-only. Both syndication sets cannot be aired on one channel as one or separately, as per NBC's wishes in the US.

The running time is 48 minutes, maybe some at 49. To record them would have you doing a 50-odd-minute timer setting. Since there are no commercials, I'd set my timer around 55 minutes per episode and that gets it all. It's always better to start a minute early and a few minutes after the show's over and you'd still be able to fit another ep or more on one blank DVD-R disc.

Thanks for replying in such a prompt manner. You have done a great job on your website, by the way! Again, I cannot tell you how excited I am for these rarely seen episodes to air on the Encore western channel commercial-free. Does this mean that the episodes that Pat Robertson banned will get their first television airing since the original broadcast on NBC?

Hi Jarrod,

Thanks! The 5 eps PR banned were previously seen when Goodlife and Hallmark had the rights in the 2000's. He also banned "Forever" (that's 6) after a few years on CBN.

Rick :)
