Thanks, Rick. Guess we'll just have to wait until the season DVDs arrive. In the meantime, I'm going to publish an article about Bonanza coming to Encore Westerns. If you're interested in being quoted, please get in touch with me.

Go ahead and publish what you like. I'm a master at what I research and I don't need publicity, but thanks for the kind offer. I'm rarely proven wrong. God knows how many older alumni have made mistakes I've spoken to in the past. They don't care; to them it was just a job and they got paid for it.

I contacted Andrew Clyde, and he helped me tremendously:

"At the top of the heap of BONANZA's best is Kent McCray, who has been an essential "behind-the-scenes" contributor to BONANZA's success since he began his tenure as production manager at the beginning of the show's fourth season in May 1962. And his contribution to television history, overseeing the production of hundreds if not thousands of episodes of numerous shows including BONANZA, THE HIGH CHAPARRAL, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN, THE OUTLAWS, BOB HOPE SPECIALS, and on and on . . .

I cannot and will not contradict Kent's account. Indeed, when I have my own doubts or questions about historical events, Kent would be one of the first -- if not the first -- person with whom I would consult.

You have asked me about production order. I can tell you the first episode of the series' fourth season filmed was "The War Comes to Washoe," an account about the looming Civil War which was filmed entirely at Paramount Studios soundstages and on its magnificent "Virginia City" western street. (The show contained some footage shot at Iverson Ranch, but it was stock from the third season.)

The second episode filmed -- in late May 1962 -- was "The Beginning," and it contained a wild horse chase sequence filmed at Iverson Ranch. Regular cast members present at that location included Ray Teal, Lorne Greene and Michael Landon. (The director was Christian Nyby)."

Congrats. And some words for you- If you're trying to start a competition with me, I advise you not to. Don't push your luck with me on my site. That's all I'm gonna say. I've worked my ass off as long as Andrew Klyde has for many years. As an author and a MAN, that gives me the right to tell you.

Please don't get offended; I'm simply a fan of Bonanza. Earlier this morning I actually updated my February article on Bonanza with a mention of your work in getting the lost episodes back on Encore Westerns. Scroll to the very end of it...Hopefully by the end of this week I'll have a new Bonanza article focusing on the lost episodes.

Forgot to add above; I just thought you might like to have the info about the production dates for "The War Comes To Washoe" and "The Beginning" in case you wanted to add it to Ponderosa Scenery.
