Hello from Germany :)

Bonanza's first appeareance on German TV screens was on October 13th, 1962. It was "Rosen für Lotta" the dubbed version of "A Rose for Lotta".

After 13 episodes Bonanza disappeared from German TV screens because the powers that be decided to cancel it because of the shown brutality.

It came back August 27th 1967 and then we got nearly all episodes - every week on Saturday or Sunday a new Cartwright adventure for years and years :)

BTW this year the German fans plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of "Bonanza in Germany" with a western style party weekend in October.

Danke, Heike! Fascinating stuff! I had no idea BONANZA was pulled after only 13 shows and exiled for 5 long years! But the Germans made up for the lost time by really doing the show justice for years afterward up to today.
