The thing I love about TCM is discovering good movies with recognizable actors in them that I've never seen before and sometimes had never heard of before. It's like the actors became alive again or young again and made another movie just for me. This was that kind of movie. It had no big stars but was extremely well made with great location shots of San Francisco, a wonderful performance by Arthur Franz and a remarkable final shot. Edward Dymytrk was a fine director, one of the Hollywood Ten who co-operated with HUAC to get his career going again and this film was one of the results.
