Subject: I agree its nore Canadian than a carnval costume, but it certainly isnt as exciting. $4000.00? Someone ripped someone off lol. Its clothing and accessories you *can* buy at wal-mart, dressed up with some rhinestones. $400.oo at the most, IF she bought the boots for $200.00 heh. The Leafs giving permission? Big deal, that doesnt cost and its nt like she coldnt have worn it otherwise, they sell them in stores, if you sell it, you are giving permission to wear it, they really couldnt have stopped her, but its nice to have thier blessing as unnecessary as it is. Its JUST a costume folks...calm down. Subject Author Date First of all, this was not bought, I already mentioned above the designers involved were at her farewell party where they unveiled some of her wardrobe. I saw this costume up close and honestly this photo doesn't even do it justice. EVERYONE was freaking over it that night! I believe they spent that much, because the top had a lot of stones and the hockey stick was covered ENTIRELY in "swarovski" crystals. There's NO way you can get "authentic swarovski" crystals for $500. for the amount that they used! A tiny little bag costs $100.00. I know because I've bought them before, they cost a fortune! As for using the Leaf name, you can't just use someone's logo and registered trade mark without their permission, unless you don't mind spending thousands of dollars in court and lawyers. This is not something the Leafs sell or that you can find already made, you can't be that naive, come on. That costume could be replicated exactly for under $200.00. Even if you bought a Leaf jersey, took the logo off and put it on your own top, redesigned and all. They could sue your ass off if they wanted to. Their entire uniform IS a trademark and your redesigning it changes their look, which therefore changes THEIR trademark. You could've paid that jersey or logo $10,000.00 and it's still NOT YOUR logo to use as you please. When you purchase anything with a company's registered trademark, it's being sold to be used and worn AS IT IS BEING SOLD not to be modified. As for the cost, if you can do it for $200.00 I'm happy....I'd like to order one for my wife, thank you.
