Subject Author Date Kiddie pageants definitely are not big in Canada. Miss All Canadians (www.allcanadianpageants.com) is pretty much it. I beleive they are Southern Ontario located and employ as much of the cheese of their USA counterparts. I dont think the parents are quite as driven as the US pageant parents, nor are the prizes anywhere near those in the US. The investment for the parents is not as substantial either. Not gonna see any 6 year olds with prostetic teeth, spray tans, hair extentions of a $600 talent outfit.. Unfortunaltely what you will see, as in any event pageant or sports, are 'stage moms' yelling at thier kid to smile (nothing makes you want to grin more than your mother screeching at you thru clenched teeth), not letting thier kids eat before they go on stage (they might mess up thier outfit), and dragging sleeping babies on stage for their moment in glory in an outfit the kid is swallowed up by. heh. I've judged at the Miss and Mr All Canadian pageant, and its nothing like the Pro Am pageants you see in the States (or what you are describing). The kids are all sizes and shapes. A big part of it is about their personality, and having fun. Although there are kids that cross the border from the US and compete (who do wear some expensive dresses) that's not what they are judged on. And the kids keep returning year after year, b/c the fees are very low and they obviously have alot of fun. Maybe you should read the section where the kids post messages. It is exactly as I described and more. I gave her the information she was looking for along with a brief and accurate description of the pageant. You need to calm down and read what I wrote. I stated fees are low and its not like the usa counterparts although they are just as cheesy in a hotel ballroom with 6 foot statues and tons of crowns. I also stated that you will see stage moms as you would in ANY sport or event, not just this particular event. I thought I was quite diplomatic actually. I *could* have given full details which would be enough to turn anyone away, however I fully support people making up thier own minds based on thier own experiences.
