MCI has had thier pageant iin August for-ever and every other wanna be event seems to pick the same date, there is the globe 'event' on the same weekend or there-abouts, the galaxy event on the same weekend, and I am pretty sure I read about another event the same weekend,....I think MCi just wanted a bit of individuality and it seems didnt make it. I am pretty sure the date had been set since before the last event even took place in August 08. I asked you and MCG because I think it is stupid to have 2 pageants running around the same time. Michelle, MCI's date was chosen before you even started MTCW, again no conspiracy. We coonsidered changing our date after you announced yours but a lot of our materials were printed, people had already booked time off of work (a lot of the volunteers use thier annual vacation time to come to MCI to volunteer). We decided against it due to the cost and inconvenience to our people. Again, no conspiracy, coincidence. The goal was to get it out of August for a number of reasons, other events was just part of it. MCI will decide the dates for next year's pageant at this years pageant, just like they did last year, before the crowning, while all the volunteers and board members are together, they won't announce it until they are ready though, but I can assure you the date selection has nothing to do with you. I am certain MCI would like to avoid the confusion just the same as you but at this point it is what it is. It really does not help either pageants and annoys the media and the public in my mind. You would never see MWC and MUC the same week. Sadly, pageants aren't covered much by the mainstream media anymore and even if both of these teen pageants were held on separate dates, there still won't be much or any media coverage. Why is this?! As for the media, if I could answer that I'd be rich!!! Not reallyy but it is a question no one can really answer. Canada just doesnt seem to care is all. Pageants are not a big deal there, Maybe its our temperment, who knows. No one gets press in the pageant world (unless its negative). Look at Natalie...my god she won Miss Universe and barely a mention. Other countries issue stamps and holidays in honour of their girls who win MU and MW, in Canada its like 'oh, cool' and go about your day. Every pageant will get a little local coverage, none will ever get on tv no matter what they promise except for a local or ethnic station, but never national coverage, those days are gone. Those who are in it now arre in it purely for thhe fun of being in it.
