The Miss BC pageant is a program for young women to learn new skills while developing their self-esteem. From workshops on Self-Defense to Health and Fitness, the contestants will also go through public speaking training and are encouraged to hold a charity fundraiser in their community. Last year's Miss BC pageant raised over $34,000 for the Cops for Cancer charity!! Last year's winner, Miss BC 2010 Tara Teng, has been doing amazing work with her title, including organizing BC's very first "Freedom Week" to bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking, meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and heading to Montreal where she won the title of Miss Canada!
