Toronto, ON – May 14, 2009 - The 2009 Miss Universe Canada preliminary competition took place on Thursday, May 14 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre's John Bassett Theatre.
As a result of this competition, 5 fast-track awards were announced as follows:
People's Choice - TingJia Rosalinda Lorigiano
Best Body (Chio Swimwear Award) - Cristina Heslenfeld
Miss Elegance - Chanel Beckenlehner
Audience Favorite - Chanel Beckenlehner
Best Runway Model - Xiao Sun
The winners of these awards automatically advance to the top 20. The final competition will take place on Saturday, May 16, where Canada's representative will be selected for the upcoming 2009 Miss Universe Pageant in the Bahamas in August.
