If I were a delegate spending $10000.00 to compete and found out a fellow delegate was sent to an international competition by the organizers, I would be flipping out. In some cases, if you don't raise enough you may pay half of this amount. Anyway, you don't have to spend a fortune for other stuff, so a max of $2,000. Well, you may spend $20K and find yourself in top 40. Some folks here are trying to exaggerate. It would be nice to hear from real MUC contestants about their expenses.
