| Maybe that is the problem, the judges..... I have been to 4 out of 5 of our past MUC pageants and I recognize some of the same faces of judges! Who is picking these judges? That could be why the trend those few repeat judges love that look, which I don't blame them we did get a Miss Universe out of the tall, dark hair international look! Natalie dearest! - It's funny.... you seem to expect Canada to win MU every year... (NT) -- ..., 12:46:36 07/23/08 Wed
- I'm sure none of us want another 23 year drought. (NT) -- Brent, 12:52:46 07/23/08 Wed
- I should add to the above: and if it doesn't happen (the MU win) blame it on the judges or the gilrs who represented Canada. The MU win depends not only on the judges and the girl, but also on timing, politics, business decisions , a bit of luck, and how competitive each year is. (NT) -- there are a lot of variables involved, 12:58:18 07/23/08 Wed
- Don't be ridiculous, no one would expect even a top 5 placement every single year. But the powerhouses (Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, USA) seem to produce strong delegates each year.. And even their girls that don't place, most are shocked they didn't ! If Canada wants to become a powerhouse (which I am assuming BOC wants to considering they are mostly from Latin backgrounds and are heavily involved in the Latin American market) They are certainly not showing Canada to be a powerhouse. - as I said The MU win depends not only on the judges and the girl, but also on timing, politics, business decisions , a bit of luck, and how competitive each year is. (NT) -- there are alot of variables involved, 13:10:29 07/23/08 Wed
- I do agree with that statement. But no luck or politics would have granted 2007 and 2008's representatives a spot in the top 15. I'm sorry to be rude, but they just didn't have it, and I could see that before they even arrived in Mexico or Vietnam. I just think something needs to be changed because after Natalie & Alice, Canadian pageant fans started to see a strong pattern and it was quickly shot downhill in 2007 and 2008. I think our representatives in 2003-2004 were even better choices. And with BOC's connections, training and resources we should not be going backwards. (NT) -- Linda, 13:17:33 07/23/08 Wed
I understand what you're trying to say, but if in 2007 and 2008 the judges went with your choices and these girls didn't make it, then what would you say? Maybe you would find some excuses because you like those girls (btw I like them too) (NT) -- I think is not that simple, 13:31:42 07/23/08 Wed
- I don't really care who wins but as an avid pageant fan and working in the entertainment & media market I have wanted to see Canada's pageant industry get stronger and stronger. I think Canada is incredibly diverse and that should be our angle... Sending the last 4 delegates in a row that are tall, dark brown/black hair, tanned, and european OR exotic international look is not exactly being diverse. Just look at our last 4-5 Miss Universes.. Can you say Amelia, Jen Hawkins, Natalie, Zulekya, Riyo or Dayana look alike? NO way.. and we've even got 3 latinas in there that look totally different. If any country should be reproducing clones it would be Latin American ones! Not Canada! My arguement is that I just wish we could see more diversity.. Take chances! (NT) -- Linda, 13:36:34 07/23/08 Wed
- I desagree...I don't think Canada's reprentatives are clones...and the MU's that you listed they' re all tall and most of them with dark hair...You only see in them what you like to see in order to prove your point, and I don't consider our last 4 representative clones, they have a lot more differences than similarities. In Canada most people are not interested in pageants, most couldn't care less even after Canada won MU, only pageant fans were excited, and there are not too many in this country in comparison to others (NT) -- If you see a girl you like you could encourage her to enter, 14:08:29 07/23/08 Wed
- We obviously have disagreeing views, but I am sure I am not the ONLY person who thinks our last 4 years have been very similar girls. Natalie, Alice, Inga all 3 born in europe immigrating to Canada at young ages, all tall dark hair (well Natalie is Naturally lighter) but I was shocked they didn't darken Inga's hair, but she resembled Natalie A LOT.. All three of them even speak with a slight european accent.. Alice's being the least noticeable. Sam was tall/dark hair/tanned also, her look was european looking also, she could pass for Italian, Greek, yes she's from Iran, ok fine. She still looks alot like the other girls. And for Miss Universe: Amelia is latin with jet black hair, Jen Hawkins is beachy blond, Natalie dark haired european, Zuleyka is dark hair latin but her background is mixed (mulata), Riyo dark haired Asian (I'd love to see a blond asian lol) and Dayana blondish tanned latina.. Sorry I don't see any similarities here? Am I missing something? (NT) -- Linda, 15:50:28 07/23/08 Wed
- personally I think that your conclusions are based on assumptions, not on facts (NT) -- and that's my opinion, 13:13:29 07/23/08 Wed
