The charming and personable Mister Sweden captured the hearts and votes of the judges and was proclaimed as INTERNATIONAL MAN 2007. Alex is a student and model from Stockholm. He has modeled in Europe and Asia, and with his new title, he is ready to conquer the rest of the world.

The panel of 6 very accomplished judges include Senior Editor of Cleo Indonesia Herlina Halid, Director of Carrie Models International Jane Liong, President of Australian swimwear company Beach House Creations Kara, General Manager of John Robert Powers Indonesia Rita Tjahjono, Executive Assistant Manager of Novotel Nusa Dua Bali Hotel and Residences Ketut Iriana and President of TM Management Teddy Sudjadi.

The audience was treated to an extravagant performance by Nyoman Sura Dance Company. Sura is a gifted contemporary Balinese dancer. He has performed all over Indonesia as well as Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, USA and Switzerland.

The contestants competed in three areas of competition – interview, beachwear and evening wear. The panel narrows the list to 5 finalists and then voted for their final choices. Indonesia’s international supermodel, Fahrani, dressed in a spectacular haute couture gown creation by Raden Sirait, crowned the new winner with a symbolic Balinese royalty crown.

I'm soooooooooooo nervous and excited to be on a game show seen by over 1.5 million people (almost all in Quebec...!). I'm guessing the show will air in January, but I'm not sure at this point. Please send lots of Franco-vibes this weekend to me. :-) I couldn't care less if I win, but having the chance to take part is suuuuuuch a big deal for me. I've participated in a few pageants over the years as a delegate in various 'Teen' divisions, but this upcoming new year I wanted to participate in another. Does anyone have any good suggestions of pageants other than the big ones like MUC, MWC or MCI? She did not stand out in the preliminaries but she blossomed the night of the pageant. What was it that made you vote for her in the Miss Earth Canada contest? You must've seen/known something that she was the ONE. I've been reading about her after she won and OMG she seems to have it all together. By the way, her pictures circulated on the web the night she won is just...WOW! Beauty and brains do go together after all.

It feels like it was just yesterday that I was feeling a rush of excitement to compete for the title of Miss World Canada. Now that has come and gone and I’m feeling an even bigger rush to compete at Miss World. These past few months have changed my life. I feel like I am a stronger more put together young woman who truly feels empowered and comfortable in my own skin. I know that it is because of my experiences over the past few months that I have grown so much. I would like to thank Miss World Canada Organization for running such a fabulous pageant. The organization knows how to treat their girls and they only want what’s best. I am so grateful to be blessed with the opportunity to hold such a prestigious title. Thank you MWC!!! I am also very fortunate to have met so many wonderful people during my reign. There are many people that I cannot thank enough. Emily Hoddinott, 22, has a few wins to capture on her way up, but she's so sure of herself she says, "I feel like I'm already there." Her first step is to be selected as one of 15 British Columbians who will represent the province at the Miss Universe Canada pageant early next year. On Nov. 24 she'll compete in Vancouver in a preliminary screening with the B.C. hopefuls to become a participant in the national pageant in Montreal. The winner of that contest, Miss Universe Canada, will go on to the Miss Universe pageant in 2008. Emily, who was selected for the B.C. competition by Patti Falconer Model and Talent Agency in Vancouver, said this will be her first time in the beauty pageant world. "It's so exciting to be chosen for this," said Emily, who is confident she'll be among the 15 B.C. candidates. "It's a beauty pageant and I think I've got what it takes as far as how I look at life and my love for my country. Canada is beautiful and the best place in the world to live. "I'm already looking forward to meeting other Canadian candidates and experiencing what is every girl's dream." If selected among B.C.'s contestants, her training in poise, modelling, speech and more will start in earnest, and that's where she needs the support of Prince George. "The training costs $1,060, which I have to raise myself," said Emily, who, with sponsor Adriano Spoletini, is holding a fundraiser tonight at 8 p.m. in the downtown Rum Jungle, 1192 Fifth Ave. "It will be like a party with events and door prizes and I'll do a presentation and fashion show," said Emily. Tickets, at $5 at the door, will all go towards Emily's pageant expenses. Anyone who'd like to help out with her expenses can contact her at 649-8207. Emily's inspiration came from a family visit to Australia last year where she had the opportunity to do modelling lessons and a photo shoot, but had to come home due to family matters before anything else materialized. Emily, who stands five-feet, five-inches tall, weighs 115 pounds and has brown hair and green eyes, grew up in Prince George where she graduated in 2003 from Prince George secondary school. I guess not everyone realizes that tallness is not just the most beautiful aspect of a girl. Ok, they didnt dress like that, and its not a costume. I guess I have deep personal issues with using someones culture as a costume. Unless you ae native, you have no right to dress up like that, and no native is going to offend thier culture by doing so sigh and again, no offense, and it is a pretty obscure pageant, but that has to be one of the uglisest things I have ever seen, lose the yellow wings that look like they were made from yellow trash bags and stick to just the costume, as offensive as it is, it would be MUCH nicer without the wings. I know its hard to find a national costume, its always a gamble but sheesh there have to be some better ideas out there than native or hockey heh. Here's the difference though: The Miss Canada International you mentioned is held in Mississauga, and organized by Sylvia Stark. The winner of this one generally travels across Canada. This organization does not have the legal rights to send off their winner to the international pageant. The one Justine has been titled is Miss International Canada (sounds very similar!), and this one is run by Beauties of Canada in Toronto, and they hold the rights to send off a girl to the international pageant. It's kind of confusing because the names are quite similar, but you have to look at the organization that owns the pageants and know who owns the rights. They both are national titleholders, but one is allowed to compete internationally at the Miss International pageant, while one is not. Hopefully all that makes some sense! Probably because Miss Universe is the only one we get to see on televsion in North America. The others are not as interesting since we don't get to view the final nights. That's my reason, anyway. Jennifer Schott of Niagara-on-the-Lake was in the top five of the Reina Mundial del Banana (International Banana Queen) Pageant in Machala, Ecuador. Horray!

Venezuela won, with Ecuador placing second, and Panama, Colombia and Canada rounding out the top 5.

Canada's Anna Maria Ezechiels won the pageant in 2004 and Gretal Montgomery was 3rd in 2005.

Jennifer was 5th in MWC 2005 and is a finalist for MUC 2008.

A little birdie just told me this wonderful news....Cassondra Paletta, Miss Teen Canada International 2008 is to appear on Canadian Idol tonight as a VIP guest. She is from same town as finalist Brian Melo and will hopefully have time to be interviewed at some point during tonights 2 hour finale.
In an interestingtwist,the other finalist Jaydee Bixby is from Alberta where our Miss Canada International 2008 Alesia Fieldberg is from!

Primarily these are pageants for children and up to early teens. I may be moving north to live in Canada and I have found NO information on pageants for childrens (beyond Hawaiian Tropic Canada). Can anyone here (Jimmy??), lead me in the direction to find pageants for kids. If you know the US pageant scene, these would be ones similar to Cinderella, Little Miss, etc. Help please! I cannot find a thing. If there are no such pageants (hard to believe)...is it because there is no one is doing it? If it is a market thing...is there no market because of no interest...or no interest because no one does it? I am looking forward to hearing from any and all - perhaps it is something that NEEDS to be started!!??

Miss All Canadians (www.allcanadianpageants.com) is pretty much it. I beleive they are Southern Ontario located and employ as much of the cheese of their USA counterparts. I dont think the parents are quite as driven as the US pageant parents, nor are the prizes anywhere near those in the US. The investment for the parents is not as substantial either. Not gonna see any 6 year olds with prostetic teeth, spray tans, hair extentions of a $600 talent outfit.. Unfortunaltely what you will see, as in any event pageant or sports, are 'stage moms' yelling at thier kid to smile (nothing makes you want to grin more than your mother screeching at you thru clenched teeth), not letting thier kids eat before they go on stage (they might mess up thier outfit), and dragging sleeping babies on stage for their moment in glory in an outfit the kid is swallowed up by. heh. I've judged at the Miss and Mr All Canadian pageant, and its nothing like the Pro Am pageants you see in the States (or what you are describing). The kids are all sizes and shapes. A big part of it is about their personality, and having fun. Although there are kids that cross the border from the US and compete (who do wear some expensive dresses) that's not what they are judged on. And the kids keep returning year after year, b/c the fees are very low and they obviously have alot of fun. Maybe you should read the section where the kids post messages. It is exactly as I described and more. I gave her the information she was looking for along with a brief and accurate description of the pageant. You need to calm down and read what I wrote. I stated fees are low and its not like the usa counterparts although they are just as cheesy in a hotel ballroom with 6 foot statues and tons of crowns. I also stated that you will see stage moms as you would in ANY sport or event, not just this particular event. I thought I was quite diplomatic actually. I could have given full details which would be enough to turn anyone away, however I fully support people making up thier own minds based on thier own experiences. Last year, Angela Triantafyllakis (I almost spelled that correctly on the first try!) was in the top 6. --- Ylenia Aurucci, who was Miss Italia Canada 04 and who many of you may remember finishing 5th in Cycle One of Canada's Next Top Model, represented Canada in Miss Italia nel Mondo last week in Italy. It's her second time participating, and according to one post, she placed in the top 15. --- Krystal Kirby Pascual is our rep for Miss Tourism Queen International in China next month. (Source: GB) --- Looks like Beauties of Canada has obtained the franchise for another of the Big 4 (or 5) --- Miss International! http://www.missinternationalcanada.org --- MUC - GTA regionals delegates are up. I recognize Elena Soboleva (MWC 06 top 10) and Jennifer Schott (MWC 05 4th RU). Genida Prifti was in the top 8 of the regionals the same time that Alice Panikian was competing (fall 2005). Looks like a good event.

Regarding the GTA prelims, Genida Prifti looks the best from those photos. And once again there seem to be a large number of contestants born in the former USSR. That pageant has now folded, and the Beauties of Canada Org'n now owns the rights to send a rep to the same Miss International Contest. The Miss Canada International has been around since 1995 and is a completely separate organization. As a guestimate, there are at least 10 "major" international pageants happening in China on an annual basis, so if the Miss Canada International folks are sending someone to China, it's to participate in one of those other events - not the aforementioned Miss International for which Alice Panikian was appointed. I'm very curious to see which pageant in China it will be, since it's not mentioned on the MCI website.
