Hola!

Hi from Miss World Canada 2008! I'm home now and quite logy.

Having met all 45 girls, I'm just at a point where I'm completely flabbergasted about who will win. Seriously! I'm floored at how well some of these girls move on stage and how well they can model.

Miss Sport was announced tonight: she's the lovely Rena Kawabata. She's stunning in person ... half-Japanese, half-French Canadian. Totally funky look with the short hair.

Those with previous national pageant experience:

-Lena Ma was Miss Chinese Toronto 04 and was loved at Miss Chinese International 05 but did not place.
-Laxmi Navkar was Miss Congeniality at MUC 07.
-Leah Ryerse was 4th at MWC 07.
-Shaileen Stanley was top 10 in MUC 06 (when Alice Panikian won).
-Shawna Pandya was a contestant in MWC 06.
-Simranjit Singh was top 15 at MUC 07 and is a former Miss India Canada AND Miss India Canada Worldwide.

Northern Ontario and BC had big locals that were well attended and sent wonderful delegates.

Other tidbits:
-Nicole Hammer modeled at NY Fashion Week last year.
-Mona Kiran went to my high school and was in grade 8 when I was in grade 13. Hysterical.
-Serena Just is now a brunette - her natural colour - and is full-blooded Chilean!
-I can't get over how many of the delegates speak 3 or 4 (or 5) languages. It's amazing.
-Marianne Corvellec is finishing her Masters degree in PHYSICS. Meanwhile, I dropped science after grade 10!

Everything is so well organized and everyone looks really happy. Tomorrow, more fun activities, meet and greet with the public and more rehearsals.
Friday: prelims and talent night.
Saturday: the big show!

G'nite!
