Subject: This is so sad to hear because I grew up watching the Miss Universe pageant on television. When so much potential is there, but not valued, it is disheartening. I hope something can be done to change this. I am glad that not all pageants are experiencing this though. I am glad Miss World and Miss Earth still continue being successful: beauty with a purpose is the most outstanding beauty of all:)

I, too, hope/wish there would be many more countries in Miss Universe. They have been having problem coming up with a candidate even from the UK! Having said that, I think we have to look at it from the Donald's point of view in order to understand the situation. That means we have to look at $$$$$. The entrance fee for Miss Universe is just too high. Many countries with pageants that have limited sponsorship balk at the cost of sending a girl to MU. That's why there's no Miss Nepal or Miss Austria in MU. Also, I think MU's tilt towards Latin America in recent years does not help its cause in Eastern Europe or Africa, the relatively "virgin" or growing territories in international pageantry. It's almost a vicious cycle: Pageants/MU is popular in Latin America, so MU pays more attention to the region and Spanish-speaking audience in general, so many Latin girls do well, so MU becomes even more popular in (most) Latin countries.
