Subject: Vec Tech questions

Hi all, just picked up a GCE (pre-MB) Vecy for $10.
It's in pretty decent condition cosmetically after cleaing
it up (pretty dusty, some mud or something where the molding
meets).

When I powered it up the first time, the screen drawing was
a bit screwed up, with the images severely stretched and
certain sets of vectors being drawn in the wrong locations.
After cleaning up the outside (which consisted of turning
the vec in all different angles, including upsidedown),
upon powerup it draws fine now. My guess is that there was
some dust or something in the vector beam mechanism that
got removed from tilting the thing. Is there any way
to go in safely to remove dirt and grime in there to make
sure it doesn't happen again? I saw the tutorial on discharging the monitor (which scares the hell out of me),
but is there anything else to consider? Has anyone ever cleaned up one from the inside as well?

Another problem is the on/volume switch has a short in it.
As you turn the volume up, it makes large staticy sounds
until you stop adjusting. The sound quality also appears
to be more staticy than normal. Any advice on what to
do to fix this?

Last but not least are the controllers. The joystick still
works and centers perfectly, but a couple of the buttons are
out. Any source on how to open the thing and fix them?

Thanks.
