Subject: "Arm and hammer"symbol inside Elgin case

I have an Elgin pocket watch, ser # 14281114, that has a symbol stamped inside the back cover that looks like an arm holding a hammer. I have not been able to find anything out about this symbol. Does this signify something about the watch or the case or the Elgin company?
