Subject: Dating Dad's Gold Elgin

 Dad's gold Elgin has front and back covers, winds at three o'clock and inside is SN "8968719" and "Safety Pinion" The case is inscribed Guaranteed 20 Years Essex Jolumbia 806807 and scratched (574R). My dad was born in 1910 and his dad was born in 1877. Can you tell me how old it is, thus who it belonged to? Both front and back covers are beautifully inscribed with fancy scrollwork.
