I need some help obtaining information for this pocket watch and case. I believe it is from 1880 and there is either 11 or 15 jewels. On the back of the watch ELGIN NATL WATCH CO. is engraved in cursive and is has Patent Pinion on it also. The serial number is 717035. Also, the roman numeral 4 has four lines instead of IV.
The case opens three ways and the serial number on the case is 29754 and above that is a trade mark of a crown (i think) and balance measurement. The front and back of the case is carved with flowers around the outside and a picture of what looks like a village or castle. Its a gold color.
My questions are...what company made the case? Is the information correct that I was provided which is the watch is worth approx $1700.00? I have pics if it helps!
