I just bought an Elgin (SN7550221) pocket watch and want to know if there is any way to tell if the case (SN73427) is gold or gold filled? It is marked as 14k, but it also says 20 yr. guarantee. It was sold as solid 14k, but it was pretty cheap for a 14k watch, in fact if it is 14k, the metal is worth more that what I paid.
