John!
The movement is a full plate. I.E. the serial number and the engravings are on the same piece of metal. Thus, even if it is changed, fact prevails. The serial number and the engravings are stuck together on this particular piece. It is possible, though, that the plate has been a blank with no serial number and then numbered later or that it had a certain serial number but no grade and then been marked later.
In any event:
I also see two possibilities. Either the database (and the books) are in error for this movement or the movement has been wrongly marked (deliberately or by misstake). The watch has otherwise a plain appearance with no further engravings, save for the bridge that holds the balance (that is solid but compensated for temperature with studs). The case is in coin silver. It can be seen at: http://www.allitnil.df.lth.se/elgin/elgin.jpg
Cheers!
/Lars
