I think you answered your own question. Who in their right mind would spend millions to build an arena and bring a team to Mobile which has a proven record of not supporting anything? That's why all the good concerts go to Biloxi and Pensacola. Noone will even buy tickets for those. All you will get here is wrestling and monster trucks. That's what Mobilians want.
I don't see hockey coming back any time soon. If you need a hockey fix, go to Biloxi or Pensacola next season. It was a little strange at first, but after a few games, you still get hooked again.
