SEALS SIGN JASON ELDERS
Has Been Proven Scorer
The Orlando Seals have signed left winger Jason Elders to a WHA2 contract.
Elders played last season with the Nottingham Panthers in Great Britain, and
was a teammate of Seals coach Jim Paek. In his North American career, Elders
has averaged more than a point a game, with 480 points in 440 games, mostly
in the East Coast Hockey League.
"Having played on the same team as Jason, I know he can be a very dynamic
player in this league," Paek said. "He should really give us some good
scoring punch."
Elders, 5-foot-10, 195 pounds played college hockey at the University of
Denver and began his pro career with the Mobile Mysticks in 1995-96. That
year he had 69 points in 70 games, and then averaged more than a point a
game for the next five seasons.
The Seals had a roster spot available for the 32-year old Elders after last
week's trade that sent Joe Seroski to Jacksonville for future
considerations.
Elders and the rest of the Seals resume action on Sunday when they host the
Macon Trax at 6:05 at TD Waterhouse Centre. the first 1,500 fans will
receive a free Seals magnetic schedule.
Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at
www.ticketmaster.com and more information is available by calling the Seals
at (407) 447-PUCK (7825).
